The last one has missed the point somewhat - how about get RID of bus lanes altogether? I had the pleasure of being stuck in a traffic jam watching 10 buses going past carrying 5 passengers in TOTAL - this was at 5pm!!!

It hasn't missed the point if you're a biker.....

Yes it has because it just causes traffic build up elsewhere that effects everyone - anyway what self respecting biker needs a buslane???

One that's sick of idiots in cars with a problem with bikes filtering. You'd be surprised how many car drivers you see look and pull into your path deliberately to block you.

how about a
petition making it mandatory for car drivers to do CBT ...passed my DAS course a few months ago and the difference it makes to road awareness is phenomenal. Now on two wheels I realise just how shite many car drivers are on the road..in two weeks with new pride and joy, I've lost count of the amount of nobbers who've nearly wiped me out...

I rode in the early 80's as a despatch rider. But i'm amazed at the bikes on motorways today. They drive inbetween the motorist even when the cars are doing 80ish What law do they ride under. Only approx 5% of bikes ride within the law today.

Funny, I spend 8 hours a day on motorways and I see the exact opposite.

The trouble with riding my bike now is that I have to wait two weeks to see if I got away with it, or a £60 fine and 3 points is on the doormat.
No speed cameras in the solent........................

So have you never seen bikers weaving between cars on motorways undertaking.
What motorways do you drive on.
I'd like to see a poll on this.

when bikes do this at relatively slow speed, its called filtering - perfectly legal. When done at higher speed, its prompted by car drivers ignoring the section of the highway code that states that vehicles should use the left hand lane unless overtaking. I personally wouldnt undertake (only bcause I'm still a novice and dont want to break the new bike) but seeing how stupid and blissfully unaware many of the lane hoggers on the M27 are each day, i'm not surprised many bikers do....

As a "biker" and other vehicle user, I concur that some of the antics of *some* motorcyclists on the motorways is, quite frankly, suicidal. The problem is these boys (and not a small number of ladies) are the former XR3/Gti/BMW 3 series (Insert Chav/boy racer motor of choice) pilots who have discovered how much performance you get for your money with motorcycles. Now I enjoy “making progress” and the freedom of motorcycle travel, but, as usual we are all being stigmatised because of the antics of these folks…and I believe that’s also partly blame for the car/van/truck drivers who occasional pull across to make life difficult whilst I’m filtering.

Well said that man.
I rarely ride on the motorway if I can avoid it, but every time I do without fail I get some idiot try to kill me.
IMO the best way to stop yourself being screwed over whilst filtering is to have VERY noisy exhausts...

Right... I'll walk away from this one now then...
The post was NOT meant to provoke, it was an opinion based on personal experience. For the record I'm not a power ranger and my noisy bike is older than I am...

forgot that thread...lots of bike willy waving but v v funny - I'm with jono on that one...back in the car, the only think that would stop me twatting a filtering bike is its headlights on so I can see in my mirror and a quick check over the shoulder...a modded exhaust isnt gonna compete with the Bose stereo, my two year old shouting and my wife nagging in a million years and IMVHO makes you look like a prick unless your surname ends Fogarty.
