I'd assume if you're near Poole or Studland then if it's green or a beach it's National Trust and they don't like people camping. It's also seriously frowned upon because of the risk of heath fires.
It's all been razed to the ground on a few occasions so your chances of trying to get away with it are quite slim too-the wardens are quite alert.

The islands are private property or National Trust.

It's a bit of a pain-you really need a cabin to spend the night in Poole.

Try South Lychett Manor just outside Poole. Just been refurbished by new owners. OK to take boats. Stayed there a few times and always been good.

Little bit of a hike if you're launching at Baiter though.

If you fancy launching up the river at Redcliffe towards Wareham, there's loads of sites. The slip owners run the Redcliffe Farm site but I can't remember if the slip is free if you stay there.

All the above assuming you're taking a boat!

stayed at redcliffe farm site, no hosepipe, you have to get you boat out overnight, they get really pissy if you leave it in, launching was £20 and a fiver to park your car and a tenner to put up a tent overnight,oh and very tidal,

I wonder if it's not worth having a stickied thread or a subsection with boating friendly campsites in?

Depends on what you need - are you after somewhere you can leave the boat in the water and camp within sight of it or just somewhere you can leave it in the water and happy to drive a short way to your tent etc ?

I doubt there's anywhere round Poole / Stucland for the first scenario (unless Rockley take tents ??) but there's a lot of choice for the second scenario if you consider Swanage and rent a temporary mooring in Swanage Bay which only takes me a few minutes to zip round to Studland from. Let me know if you want camp site / mooring info.

you asked on the poker run thread about priory bay.

It's on East side of Isle of Wight. Just north of Bembridge harbour.
See the cruise planning section and the Priory Bay picnic thread for some more details. there are some aeriel photos showing the way in at low tide, quite shallow in places and you need to follow the right path in or will be stuck. Generally OK at mid tide up though i think.

If you plan on camping over, it's generally classified as a sheltered bay, so your insurance may cover you to have the boat anchored and unattended, but check with them first.

An alternative depending on tides is to go into Bembridge harbour and use the beach on the left for camping and anchoring. alternatively camp there and use the visitors moorings for the boat. Could also use visitor moorings and camp at Nodes Point (again details in the bbq thread).

Some info on Priory Bay and Bembridge harbour at www.solentribster.com under solent locations.

Hope this helps.
