Was pondering this one again when I saw an email newsletter from PayPal, aparently we can now move money about the world fairly efficiently. Did make me wonder if you could paypal the money to a fellow forum member who may send the item on as a gift - no tax no vat.
I've got US relatives so would probably do similar with them
