Christmas Day Swim - Galway Bay, Ireland (Sponsor me!) :)
Hi all,
I'm taking the plunge and doing a Christmas Day Swim in aid of COPE Galway, Ireland (They are the organisers hence that's the only charity I can raise funds for). I normally do this anyhow, but this year decided to raise some funds for Charity. I'm sure you guys can appreciate just how cold the water is in December, all i'll be wearing is shorts and a Christmas hat - No wetsuits allowed!
Checkout the website, if you're feeling generous feel free to give me a donation Every penny sounds, even a €1-2euro donation would be greatly appreciated. Mastercard/Visa/Laser cards accepts - It's a legit charity site so no need to worry about card fraud etc.
The site is: http://www.mycharity.ie/event/niall_christmas_swin/
The website of the charity is:
http://www.copegalway.ie/
Here is a Google Map of where i'll be swimming:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...05472&t=h&z=18
I'm not one to automatically throw money at a charity, instead I prefer being pro-active and actually doing stuff by volunteering etc. so i'm willing to do the dirty work of freezing my goolies off, I just need you guys to throw me some change!
Thanks in advance guys,
Niall

Seems like a pretty worthy charity, stick me down for a £10.00
I wanna see photographic evidence though

Dirk - Thank you so much, just follow the link above. What I like about the online donations is I don't touch the money myself, it goes straight to the charity
Yes of course there will be photographic evidence, and as said, if JK sends me stickers, i'll stick them to myself as further proof

I've already had a donatoin from a RIB.net member - Thank you so much, ooh I can feel the chill already. But seriously, it's so nice to see a few quid coming from the UK, you guy's aren't even in the same country as me!
The beauty about the online donation site is that the money never touches my hands. It goes direct to the charity hence no chance of money fiddling etc. - So you guy's know that the money is going to the worthy cause. You can also keep track of everything on the site, there's a record kept of everything
COPE do great work for the homeless here in Galway. They're a genuine charity and I can see their work with my own eyes.

Alt - I hope you won't be too disapointed but someone is winding you up...
...Santa will still be delivering presents in Hawaii...

I wish I could think of a smart-arsed reply to your smart-arsed post, but my mind is at a blank. Kudos Sir

I think Polwart's wrong. I make it that Santa will be somewhere over the US mainland (he doesn't deliver before midnight, you know!).
Nonetheless, it made me laugh and looks like a worthwhile charity. Wear the cap appropriately and €20 donated ! Good luck. David

Pics...
OK well I held up my end of the bargain, and here's the proof!
The tide was out, so instead of jumping from the tower we had to run in from the beach. Myself and a friend (In Santa hats) running in:
Look who made an appearance:
The place was PACKED with people:
A small drink to warm myself up
It was fecking FREEZING, really cold without a wetsuit. You wouldn't last long in the water this time of year - If anything the swim makes you respect the water even more... if you fell off your boat in your clothes you're a gonner!
Happy XMas everyone, thanks so much for the donations (Hope COPE are greatful too for your generousity!)
