company car tax

as we all like our 4x4 and they are the highest cost at 35%
co2 charge i changed my company car for a l200 four life
crew cab £15200.00 +VAT

as it has a pay load of over 1 ton its classed as a van
it as all mod cons and is very good with seating for five
cost is £500.00 a year with fuel

tax codes have just come out for 2004/2005 no change

its worth a look

That's a good price for one of them - the Nissan is my favourite though - on my second now after starting with an Isuzu - the latest Nissan is up to 130 hp which makes it better for towing - what hp has the 4life got now?

I've kept my eye on these "double-cab" 4x4s for a while since Clarky explained the tax break last year. The main thing that's stopped me leaping straight in is this - I haven't been able to find one with an auto' box option, except imports (and I don't want to buy something that's not a UK spec. model). Anyone know different?

Interesting. I looked into this a couple of years ago and the received wisdom was that the taxman would be closing the loophole soon. Good news that he hasn't! In the end I couldnt persuade our company car scheme that they should let me have one so opted out & took the money instead!

Always rather fancied a double cab but how practical are they unless you put a canopy over the pick up bed? No security and all your kit sliding around all over the place!

Fair enough but they're great for moving around 8' X 4' sheets of marine ply!

every day use

i drive my to and from work through the blackwall tunnel not the best drive takes 1/2 hour to get in and 1hour return never worked
that one out after 12 years. when i picked it up in june 2002 i was
told the loop hole would be closed soon. we have 2 crew cab l200
one freelander van and one standard l200 two seater. and two ford rangers crew cabs. all come under van tax class. i went for the l200 for the looks but only had a roll up cover on it came back lots of times to find some one had opened it up and looked in side
in the end someone nicked the cover so its been replaced with a gas lift locking one £1200.00+vat company paid for
it if you want one drive it first its not a car hard to park but
i love it and the 4500mile service is now each 9000miles. the tax man will not allow the hard tops on the back if you put one on it changes the pay load to under a ton and you get hit for full tax

Hi

This is my ride, tax on car's in denmark are BIG, if you take a car like mine and take out the rear seat then you can licens it as a van, and then you only have to pay 60% tax and 25% VAT on it.
If you don't remove the rear seat you will have to pay 192% tax and 25% VAT. This is a one time expense but still quit a lot. So a car like mine with only the front seat is around 22.000 £ and with back seat around 55.000 £......

But it is a nice car

Daniel - I feel I should point out at this stage that you are verging dangerously close to anorak status with your misplaced obsession with Mitsubishis. Now get a grip, man, and reveal to the forum your deep-seated love for the only 4x4s that matter - Land Rovers

I think part of the problem with looking for second hand 4m Seariders is that, although robust little RIBs, a lot of them have had a hard life being used as sailing club rescue boats and not received the TLC that I lavish on mine! They're a callous, cold-hearted bunch, the rag & stick brigade.

On the subject of hard tops.....

From http://www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk/cars..._vans_info.htm

Under a separate agreement between Customs and SMMT, a hard top consisting of metal, fibre glass or similar material, with or without windows is accorded a generic weight of 45kg. Therefore the addition of a hard top to a double cab with an ex-works payload of 1010 kg will convert the vehicle into a car (payload reduced to 965 kg). The Revenue will also adopt this treatment.

The L200 has a payload of Nett 1010kg - Gross 1085kg

Is ex-works = Gross or Nett?
