Conway Holiday Home

I did a post a few months ago about a holiday with the boat and family and the hunt for a base.

Looks like we have found the perfect place, overlooking Conway marina - it's called No14 Conway Marina. Anyone on here know it?

if the weather is crap, we can recommend Anna's Tea Room in Conwy above the outdoor shop, great old fashioned tea room but they do nice cakes

We quite often stop off at the fish and chip shop on our way back home from Caernarfon There are several fish and chip shops but we always get a good meal from the one on the corner.

The only problem with the marina though is that it has a tidal gate so worth checking if you plan to use the marina.

Places to visit

This is all booked now - Cant wait! Going in August!

Got a towable as well, so think most of the time will be towing this, and a run to puffin if its flat.

I am thinking of a run from Conway to Doc Vic to explore Caernarfon, and that way some people can go in the car, and others by boat. My main worry is the tidal gates... Looking like leave Conway as soon as possible to get into Doc Vic before the gate closes, then leave as soon as its open again to get back to Conway before they close...

Telcowilliam is the man for the gate times, he keeps a boat in the doc, or I think the gate times may be on the web site, if not a call to the harbour master will do the trick, always been very happy to help in the past

I have the times somewhere at home but think its 3hrs either side...

A quick glance at 7th Aug (as en example) in Conway gives me high at 08:30 - so out of harbour early but then would be out until 18:00 ish as next high is 21:00.

And if we went to Doc Vic we would need to be in by 10:30 as high is 07:20 and would be stuck till 17:00 as next high isnt till 20:00

If I remember correctly, not much more there though? The Mostyn Arms is closed so just the Liverpool Arms?

We would have people going by car (parents, sister and pregnant girlfriend) and people by boat (me, teenage cousin, and sisters other half) - So I need somewhere that I can keep everyone entertained..

If we do go into Doc Vic there is a few café 's, cheap pubs and the castle - and if we are getting short of things to do we could all walk down and say hello to Chris... but spending hours waiting for the gate isnt something I am that excited about...

I don't know of any other places, that have full tidal access and people can come by car and by boat that's roughly the same amount of time by car and boat.

Your only place with 24 hour tidal access is Holyhead mate and I wouldn't recommend it for a day out, or even an hour!

And that's a long slog by car, and a short blast by boat...

I have just had a brain wave *light bulb moment* I need to find someone that is going out for the day from Chris's - and I could borrow the trailer
