More folk die from flu with a vaccine than die from covid without one
I dont get why we have destroyed our economy & folks lives for a virus with a high survival rate.
I'm not going to hide away, understand if some do but I think the restrictions should be lifted asap

Sorry but that’s just rubbish. Excess deaths for the first 6 months of 2020 are about 50000

Let’s keep this boating related please. There are plenty of more suitable places to discuss the whys and wherefores of how the pandemic has been handled so far.

We managed a cracking three weeks north of the border . Two weeks at our usual haunt Carradale on Kintyre then a week at Fionnphort on Mull.
Cracking weather for the first twelve days then the Carradale fish farm blew away but fortunately we'd got the boat out the day before.
Fionnphort was nice with a few runs to deserted beaches & Fingals Cave but I couldn't borrow a mooring for the week which made it a bit of a chore launching and recovering.
Plenty of mackerel this year, a nice few lobsters and the added excitement of watching a Minke Whale for an hour. A bit of a surprise when it decided to surface 10 feet of the stern but a decent shot on the fishfinder.
Lot's of things being closed was a bit of a pain but all in all a decent trip.Click image for larger version

Here in the midwest of the good ol USA, boating season has never been more popular. Everyone and their mum bought a boat and is out on the water with their families. It's interesting to see the contrast between the two countries.

RIBase
Only got my rib end May and despite persistent requirements to do a thing called gardening by the other half managed to rack up 70hrs plus and counting

Hope to do a run out today or tomorrow - helps that ribbing is one of the few forms of social distancing you can do without mass crowds

Even did my first night run couple of weeks ago after a nice dusk/sunset jaunt

It's not Co-Vid19 but other reasons why I've hardly got out this year.
In my mind better to get to boat on the water and run her even a little rather than leave "mothballed". I have to pay the marina fees anyway for the dock, so no cost benefit for not having her "on" the water.

Maybe I'll be able to get some autumn days in....where's the drysuit???

You need to try and get down here Bob.

I've just got back from a great run to Salcombe. Flat seas, sunshine, room to moor on the town pontoon and to round it off Start Point was in a good mood!

There's hopefully going to be quite a few more good days still to come this year. That's probably jinxed it

Sitting idle never does a boat any good.

Dig out the drysuit and blow off the cobwebs.

Returned from a diving week in Oban a couple of weeks ago and despite the rubbish weather did some long runs in the club dive boat to the sound of mull. As many have said our personal clocks don’t stop ticking, so every day is precious. I love being out in challenging conditions and with modern nav kit and proper training it’s safe! Enjoy yourself safely.

Looks like local lockdown has finished my season early after national lockdown delayed the start in the shorter season I have managed to rack up almost the highest number of hours in 5 years (probably ever) one more weekend on the water have almost certainly LH got me my highest Number of hours on the water for a season. I think we have a long winter ahead

Fair play
Considering the numbers and Demograpphic the Welsh devolved Government's approach seem pretty broad and heavy handed ....at least you've had some time on the water under your belt ...and hopefully it wont be too long.
Just got to grab the opportunities as and when you can (Safely) I think..
I know I'm glad I did!! ...(and do)
Good Luck!

Agreed! It's been other non Co-Vid things that have kept me off the water most of the summer.

This weekend's a washout, maybe up for something next weekend though
