Did my research & although the Blackvue was/is a very popular unit, it had problems with overheating. To be fair there wasn't a lot in it, but the DOD got good reviews for picture quality & it was a chunk cheaper than the Blackvue. I have it hard wired into the van on an ignition controlled supply that I can override if I want it permanently live. Fit & forget. The instructions are a nightmare though, classic Chinglish
