dolphin in the Solent

A friend of mine is a Marine Biologist and is keen to get some pictures of the Dolphin spotted in the Solent today .If any of you are out and about and manage to get a picture could you post it on here please.
Please remember though it is a wild animal so do not harass it or get to close.
Thanks
Tim

I know 'George' (?) was in Plymouth last week so could easily have made it up here as a lone animal - and is easily identified by a big notch in his fin .....

Several pics of him taken by a friend (under water) last week if you want them I can send on an email address?

It must be rarer to get an individual in the Solent than the pod that lives along the coast and is seen Christchurch & westwards?

Dolphin in Solent/Southampton Bay

Hi,
Thanks to Tim Griffin who posted on here regards the rare sighting of a dolphin species seen this morning by the Red Jet crew half way on route to Southampton.
I just subscribed to this forum to keep up to date with the valuable info you guys might have. I rescue & rehabilitate wildlife, but am a marine biologist as well.

As Tim said any info/pictures about/from the dolphin would be very much appreciated. I set my profile so it allows you to email me personally. In the moment I can't access the Fb pictures from the Plymouth encounter (hope this is just a FB error) with George, but would love to see them.

May I add to the very important note of Tim to not disturb the dolphin when seeing it, that at the same time you please contact head quarters of British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) if you think the animal is in DISTRESS and needs assistance on the following numbers:
01825 765546 (office hours) or 07787 433412 (out of hours)

Your help is very much appreciated,

Thanks, Kerstin (Physeter)

Hi, I'm out in the Solent later this week with my camera, I'll take the long lens just in case.

I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if there are anymore sightings or let me know by pm

No worries I've never seen a dolphin so I'll be more than happy to help.

Dolphin spotted

Hi Guy's
Out Saturday in Plymouth Sound just as we turned & headed out from Mountbatten pier up surfaced a very freindly dolphin, he stayed with us for over 30 mins running along the side of the ski a about 5 knots he was that close as his blow hole opened he wet all my goggles!!
Sorry had Iphone in my under suit so could not get any photo's
(I know somebody is going to say useless thread without photo's but it was bloody freezin!
i'm now going to buy a Gopro

Description though had a small spec's of white on his dorsal fin & 2 notches one larger than the other on there too.

It was quite an experience, & it looks like he liked jet ski's ohhh! i hear you say

Speaking to a friend who works over at Mount Edgcumbe park he has been seen riding the bow wave of the Cremyl ferry over the past 10 days also.

Just magical

Thanks
John
