One of our clients just completed a drone flying test to get a licence, told me they retrun to point of lift off, so a little bit of a problem for boaters

The guy on thomas's video didn't seem to have a problem.

Agree, perhaps the kit our guy was using for commercial was different as I was was going to ask him to cover us. But he could only from the shore which could be OK

Agree, the regular media guy who books us has just got his licence for these cameras so when weather brightens, then I have a few plans for him

Watch some of the later videos, he does loose one or two
I'd love to have a go at filming boats but I don't fancy landing a quadcopter on my RIB, tempted to try one of these frames - Home page - and just land in the water.
The problem with using them for commercial applications is once you start charging you then flying for reward and need a commercial pilots licence.

Thats a much better option. Just like the action cameras I'm that sure these quadcopters will just get better and better.

Hi Thomas, Yes could be why the team who book my boat and do it commercially have paid to do the licence course. I will plan to have an Aeriel one done for Charter side soon, I think the operator could be on a beach with us running a small course close by to show the boat in action

You don't need to be too close, especially on water as nothing to get in the was of the video signal, should be good for a couple of miles easily. Would be nice to go and use one of the forts, alternative a few Versadock cubes to land on.

I will call a friend who links into Forts, I have done a few jobs from there for him and maybe there is a possibility to drop onto forts for run rounds

Nice find Whisper.
These GoPro drone videos are going to become the norm this year.
Remember this from tworototurbo (San Franscisco) with his refurbished Zodiac Hurricane H533 back in December?

Done some research on this - the Phantom by DJI is the best off the shelf by far, the also make a 4 blade (DJI450) and a 6 blade (DJI 550) kit which are better in stages, the trick is to get a good gimbal to remove the jello effect and they aren't cheap - the other thing is the bigger and more expensive you go the more stable it will be, can cope with more wind and the longer the flight time - and then there's FPV, this is live video viewed through a monitor of goggles and enables you to see what you're filming - makes it a lot less hit and miss!.
