That's identical to my first Fizzie.
Probably worth more than her career now!

You must be the other side of 50.
We went from 50 to 100, 'coz the insurance went mental above 100cc. In those days they were grouped, upto 100, 100-225,225-350 and onwards to a thou+.
That's why 250s disappeared when the learner 125 regs came in. Why bother with a 250, when you could insure an RD350LC for the same money?

Me too, though I went to cheap 125 (one of these):-
then to one of the bin-cheap GT250's with a sidewinder on it.

No one admits to owning an SS. Did you Grandad leave it to you?
A C50 was marginally cooler.

They went better than the fizzies if you put a C70 top end on though

54. I was lucky living in the sticks so I bought a TS185 Suzuki trail bike instead of a moped. Brand new £400 with a full face helmet, road tax less than a tenner but I couldn't insure it until I was 17 ! Full tank of fuel about a quid & insurance less than £50. Went all over on it & never got a tug off the boys in blue.
I don't know how the kids afford it now, I'm glad I did my bike test back then!

A Fantic TI6 or Garelli Record would 'ave it though. Fizzies weren't that quick, they just lasted into the restricted era, where the Italian stuff returned to nature.

True, but the kiddie that knocked around with us who had an SS50 with the C70 top end used to use half the fuel we did, and went as fast if not faster.
The sheer amount of miles we used to do on those things meant the price of fuel and 2 stroke oil was an issue-it wasn't unusual for us to do 200 miles in a day on them and paying for that while at school wasn't easy.
I put an old aircooled KX125 lump into an AE50....it was unrideable

The AE80 was pretty quick and bolted straight in.
Our local filling station still had the 2stroke oil pump dispenser. We used to wheel it behind a fuel pump out of the cashiers view, whack the hose into the 2st oil tank, pump like billio 'til the tank was full, then pay for the two quids worth of petrol and a shot of oil.

The KX125 didn't....it wasn't road legal and the 'engineering' was questionable...
