Finally, equal rights for men...

As of tomorrow, here in France at least, Women will no longer receive a discount when taking out any vehicular insurance....

The French have admitted that from a financial risk point of view there is little difference between both sexes...

At last.....

With some of the shocking driving I've seen of recent I'm glad its finally come to light!

Just got to get the UK to follow now...:-)

Ahh, never realised... When you say that most policies went up dramatically do you mean policies taken out by women?

Sorry to p1ss on yer parade but this is the Horrible Insurance Company you're dealing with. They have increased the cost of insurance for females in Ireland, and not reduced those for males. In addition to that, you have to ask yerself what, for example, happens when Mrs willk's insurance for my 2700cc twin turbo goes up? Yeah, that's right - I get to pay for it

And i thought the French were pioneering this....

But i suppose the statemont above from IanH explains why the French are ( by the sound of it) actually one of the last contries to adopt this idea.....:-)

Willk, i suppose its always gonna be a case of " the house always wins" when it comes to insurance co's.

shame that feeling of retribution i had couldnt of lasted a bit longer Though....:-)

Depends on what you are insuring. Some insurance previously favoured women (ie car, life), others favoured men (ie medical). You cannot now discriminate on sex alone.

EU Gender directive. Affects all sorts, pension annuity rates, life cover, illness cover, car insurance etc etc

However the insurers have used it as an oppo to increase margins. Who'd have guessed?!!

Eg female life cover gone up more than men's has come down. Same for motor insurance.
