Flankers Boat on show at LBS
For any noseyparkers or people interested, my actual new boat will be on show at the Glastron stand at the London Boat Show, it is the GS209 cuddy. Feel free to have a look in or at it, but please DO NOT pinch anything off it, it has little as it is! Please don't leave anything in the portaloo either
Mine is a 4.3ltr volvo penta engine, I think they may be advertising it as a basic 3.0ltr, but a quick look under the engine cover will reveal it is my 4.3ltr volvo penta.
The boat is not the prettiest in the world, but will do the job. Any comments would be interesting! and yes I realise it is NOT a Rib
Pete

Ribcraft say they cant get it on the size/shape stand thay have got.
Just hope this does not delay final delivery in Jan/Feb, time will tell.
Cant wait to get back ribbing I am suffering from withdrawl being RIBless for over 4 months now
All the best Gary

That's a pity from the point of view of view of potential customers like me as well - Last year they only had smaller boats on the stand and I'm particularly keen to look at something like your new boat, Gary.

Hi Pepper
Yes I was am disappointed that its not going.
Upto last week it was planned to go. Mark from Ribcraft tell me that London Boat show has only just confirmed the size and shape of his stand, and a 7.8M will not fit on with the other smaller RIBs, maybe from what you say he should leave the smaller ones and take mine .
There are not that many RIB manufactures usually at London boat show, and if it had gone it would have probably been one of the bigger ones on show.
I think many people go to Southampton and Ribex for the bigger Ribs, rather than London. We have decided now its now going we are not going to bother either with London.
Anyway I hope that it wont delay delivery.
Its due late Jan/early Feb and is being delivered to Milford Haven in Wales.
If you want to have a look or a run out etc drop me a PM and I would only be to happy to let you have a look, give you more details etc.
Regards Gary

Pete (with a Rib)
What is a Boat Show Is it somewhere where there are a lot of boats to be seen e.g. a harbour
Sorry I can't meet you for lunch, I am there on the preview day, when it is even quieter
Pete (without the Rib)

As someone who was surrounded by sharks at SBS, I have certainly learned a lesson
I am afraid I certainly have to agree with you there Pete (with the screwdriver)
Remember, it is only a bargain if you need it, and it is what it is made out to be.
How about some guidelines for people thinking of buying a boat at the show, e.g. Shark repellant (Manos has some)
Pete

Yeah, I reckon the prize is that they get to keep the bits
Pete (with the screwdriver) is after nav lights and the outdrive leg (or was it the cooker?)
I was thinking of trying to go for the engine, but at 4.3ltr 210hp, that's seroiusly de-tuned - is it worth bothering?

Latest update from LBS 2003
quote :-
Not for Public Circulation
"This years boat show will be the most secure yet. There have been attempts in the past to illegaly acquire (steal) articles from boats, this year we are using the latest security techniques available to prevent this. Techniques will include full body searches and examinations of all body orifices, these will be aimed at known 'Ribnet members'. All persons searched and found in possession of 'articles for going equipped to steal or cause criminal damage' e.g. chainsaws, screwdrivers (flat and cross), heavy engine lifting gear, sawdust, cordless drills (fully charged with extra batteries) will have these confiscated. Certain stands are believed to be a target due to the popularity of their smart boats, one in particluar is Glastron. Secret hidden cameras will be operating in the cuddy, portaloo, cooker gas ring, fridge (coolbox), engine bay and propeller screw. These security measure will ensure a secure show for all"
End quote
Thought this may be of interest to some members.
Pete
