Gangster Films
I watched 3 gangster films over the past few days, turns out they were all based on the same story about a triple gang murder in Essex.
All were worth a watch though one was quite violent!
Just wondering what your favourite gangster movies are?
I'll dig out the names of the Essex boys films

Release Date: 14 Jul 2000
The film is based loosely around events in December 1995 that culminated in the murders of three drug dealers in Rettendon, Essex, UK. On 6th December Patrick Tate, Craig Rolfe and Tony Tucker, three drug dealers well known to the police, were lured to Workhouse Lane, Rettendon. There they were blasted to death with a shot gun while sitting in their Range Rover. They had been lured to their deaths on the pretext of a lucrative drugs deal. The three bodies were found the following morning, 7 December 1995
The rise and fall of the Essex Boys gang - the drugs, the violence and, of course, the murders. The real story is the most shocking of all.
Rise of the Footsoldier follows the inexorable rise of Carlton Leach from one of the most feared generals of the football terraces to becoming a member of a notorious gang of criminals who rampaged their way through London and Essex in the late eighties and early nineties. It is three decades of his life following him from football hooliganism, through to his burgeoning career as a bouncer, his involvement in the criminal aspects of the early 'rave' scene and subsequently to his rise to power as one of the most feared and respected criminals in the country.

I'm biased (as my father in law produced it) but it's 'The Long Good Friday'.... Liked it before I met the wife.

1/ Sexy Beast
2/ Layer Cake
3/ Harry Brown
Always been a fan of British gangster films for the sheer terror value without the obligatory 'I'm gonna to get my shoota' dialogue that seems obligatory in the rubbish Guy Ritchie churns out.

I like "Get Carter"; had the title buzzing around my head as I chased and passed Alan Carter around Snetterton Race Circuit. Great times ........

Layer cake is very good. Lock, stock and two smoking barrels is OK. & "the bank job" passes the time quite well though it's hardly a great film

Snatch
Love honour and obey
In Bruges
The Business

I'll probably add 'The rise of the footsoldier' to my collection along with Harry Brown as mentioned by Uncle Al

Peaky Blinders, great TV. Lock Stock was good, The Business another decent effort. The daddy of gangster films for me is..... pulp fiction, Goodfellas, Scarface, the states rule when it comes to Gangsta's
