Garage wanted in Portsmouth
I really want to rent a garage in the Portsmouth area to keep my rib and a few other things (bike etc) in. I've looked in the local advertising papers etc but havnt' been able to find anything. From what I hear garages for rent around here are like gold-dust.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Same problem in most places these days - see if there is a local storage facility using containers - place near me doing that - works out at £100 per month but prob lot more in your area???

In marinas they hire you a container (or let you put your own in) and the ground it sits on usually for about a pound per foot per week each. therefore a thirty foot container would be about 240 a month
a container in a lorry yard or a farm however do be a lot chaeper to store you can buy a thirty foot sea conatiner for under a grand.
Theres a trucker cafe in a truck yard/ truck wash in the arse end of Langstone. It's very close to the Hanson aggregates yard and the Council tip. you might try sniffing round there see what's on offer

I think my idea of cost is wwhhheeyy out of line with what seems to be the going rate down here. Back in Norfolk you can rent a standard sized garage for about £50 a month.....

I've had a few garages local to me for 50 quid a month, and I'm as muchj in the civilised world as portsmouth is. "Grannies" who no longer drive and want a bit of extra cash seem to be the most common. Of course, you never know how long they can rent it out for.

Point of clarification Mr Wave, shipping containers are 20ft or 40ft generally not 30.
