It was stunning - I sat at work and watched it, in total awe. When he swung out, snapped off a salute and stepped out into, well, Space...

Couple of nail-biting moments. He goes into a tumble, then his visor mists up so he can't see his altitude.

It was also great that the old guy who was the mission controller in voice contact with him was Joe Kittinger who did the first record breaking parachute jump from space in the early 1960 s ,
When he dropped off though and he started tumbling ,, and there was no response from him even my wife held her breath until his parachute opened .

I'm finally home and able to spend some time on 'me'.....so have been watching some of the footage ..I'm speechless....
I can't even imagine the feeling and what must go through your head at 120000 feet about to step off the ballon. I think it must be inspiring.
In a world in which its easy to not 'step up' to challenges I think this truly shows just what human spirit is about. Shown by the fact it hasn't been 'done' since the 60's (?) when attitudes were differant.
Good on Redbull for bringing back a spirit of adventure and daring with this, the air race series, wingsuit flying, x fighters etc etc ....if they get good publicity for it - good for them.

A very brave man - jumping without a high visibility jacket for safety...

Judging from your Avatar, I'd say it's because long equine-like faces appeal to you?
Check out this one:

I'm not going to make any comments about the Mrs! although she can be a nag a times - My avatar was a pic my little girl took when the other nag was poorly.
