Good holiday advice website

I have just been told of the following website that has poeple's reviews on Holiday resorts/hotels etc. It may be of some use to people, wish I had found it before we went to the SHITE resort we stayed at, at Christmas. Anyway it's just hopefully bolstered up our claim for compensation.

I used it when I went to Key West last November and found it very usefull - it's a place where being in the wrong part of town has all sorts of implications!

Great stuff - will have to add this hotel to the list!!!

Hotel Don Juan spa - Aguilas

Luxury hotel which had just been built when we stayed there 2 years ago. We only planned on staying there 1 night as we were passing through. Lovely hotel - lovely area.

We were the ONLY guests and my wallet was knicked - along with all plastic etc etc. First time in my life anything like this ever happened. Staff didn't want to know - Police didn't want to know.

We ended up staying there for 3 nights and had to eat all our meals there whilst my Ferrari mate wired money over - he paid the hotel with his card and also paid for our hotel in Gib - without him we would have been buggered - insurance was shit!!!

Hotel couldn't care less - wouldn't even knock a night off the bill - was like being stranded in a luxury prison!!!

My credit card companies were no use either - said they would send out new cards - to my home address and would take 5 days - fat lot of use that is when you are stuck in Spain!!!

After my experience my mate realised if something like that happened to him he would be in the same boat - so he now has an American Express card because they seem to be the only ones who will really look after you!!!

Yes - it's a good site and fairly reliable. Some comments are obviously just rants for a one-off bad experience though.

If you're looking at US locations you have to filter a little bit. For example some of the comments are a bit hygiene obsessive! Found one where the person couldn't cope with the idea that someone had used the washbasin to spit in while brushing their teeth!?

Or the person who thought that it was wholly unacceptable for a lizard to appear in their room in a tropical area.

On our trip we went past some of the places with poor ratings and you probably wouldn't want to stay at them.

Good luck with your 1.5/5 Tim!

Have stayed at the above many times, can't speak highly enough of the place. It sits high above Koukanaries beach which is reputedly No.8 niicest beach in the World. Gail is a NE. girl who did the hippy thing years ago, met and married Christos and ran the waterski school on the beach for 18yrs (living in a wooden packing case that Onassis had a piano delivered in ). They built the holiday villas themselves. It is heavenly. Gail will arrange the flights etc for you.

ha, well our hotel was interesting!

Window was smashed and held together with sticky tape and we had to jam a yellow pages in it to hold it open! The wallpaper was coming off, as was most of the paint. We had mice in the room, the shower taps fell off, none of the plugs worked so we couldn't watch tv or turn the desk lamp on and the women on the front desk was about as helpful as a kick in the shin.

On the up side, it was literally about 10 seconds walk from the centre of times square, the beds and bathroom seemed to be relatively clean and we managed to work our way onto the roof (24 floors high)!
