GSM Alarm system for elderly

I am looking into getting something for my parents to have at home, my dad has been battling cancer for several years now and my mum has Parkinsons, however Dad has now also been diagnosed with Angina, so I am thinking it would be a good time to look at getting something for them to have that could send me an alarm if dad was taken ill.

Found this on eBay which looks ideal just not sure about its Greek manufacturer, if its going to be responsible for my parents lives I need to know its gonna work !!!

Is they are UK Supplier of this kind of thing?

Thanks All !

hi chris
have you thought of the system provided by age concern.
works via the normal home phone along with panic buttons that can be worn.
limited range, typically home and garden.
but has the advantage that some will ALWAYS respond.

had the system installed for my own parents, worked a treat.

you can rent or buy. lifetime guartee.

bye pottsy

Looks pretty versatile , the bonus of that system is that it will work anywhere, I can't believe it was made in Greece so I would say the unit would be as reliable as buying it from a British supplier

Got my folks a Doro clam shell mobile phone. Big buttons, big text font and panic button that initiates auto dialling to pre-set numbers.

Yep thought about that option but the Age UK system is wireless and is on her wrist day or night therefore she can push the button whereever she is home or garden.

A friend of ours had one of those Billy and it worked great. We had several wee hours calls after she fell :-(

I wanted one for my folks that worked away from home too as they're still pretty mobile, hence the Doro. £60 as I recall plus a PAYG SIM.
