Help Needed on Proposed Restoration

Hi All

A stab in the dark on this one, but if you don't ask you will never know.

Although I like my ribs, I have had a boy hood dream for a few years. (No comments required about my dreaming habits please).

As a kid I once saw an RNLI "A" Class McLachlan life boat at sea - it looked awesome in the way it cut through the waves etc. When older I actually got chance to drive one that had been taken out of service, and it definitely was awesome.

My dream is to obtain an old "A" Class and restore it to it's former glory, and then have a bit of fun with it.... they were introduced in the seventies (I think) and withdrawn in the eighties making way for the better Atlantics etc.

Now the help that I need;

1. Does anybody know of one for sale, or indeed the location of an old one begging for restoration?

2. Has anybody worked on these boats or have knowledge or plans of them?

3. Does anybody have photographs of these boats either at sea or ashore - I have had some sent to me via a friend who got them from the RNLI poole, but there are only five photos in their archives.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, even though it isn't a rib...

Many thanks in anticipation.

Bob

A Class Lifeboat

Was just wondering if you ever had any joy tracking down one of the cracking little boats?

Cheers
