Hollingworth Lake Big Water Festival 2012

Hollingworth Lake Big Water Festival takes place on Sunday 3rd June 2012 from 10am until 4pm.
It's a great family day out with lots to see and do for all ages and it's your chance to try out water sports plus enjoy all the attractions that Hollingworth Lake has to offer.
Lakebank at Hollingworth Lake, Littleborough is the centre of the Big Water Festival. The Water Activity Centre, the Sailing Club and the Rowing Club are putting on a combined grand Open Day for people of all ages to enjoy!
There are lots of free things to do and cheap taster sessions for only £2.
Hollingworth Lake Water Activity Centre
Starting at 10am
Ever fancied flying across the lake on a windsurfer or paddling your own kayak around the lake?
Every hour from 10am, on the hour, there will be taster sessions in windsurfing, kayaking, sailing and rafted canoeing.
It's just £2 a session - no need to pre-book, you can book yourself on to a session on arrival on the day. No equipment needed – just bring a towel and shoes you don’t mind getting wet.
There's also the all new Mountain Bike Shore Trax system to try for FREE - the bike will even be supplied! Plus there is a mobile climbing wall, face painting and street art to enjoy.
Greater Manchester Fire Service will be demonstrating rescue techniques on and off the water.
Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club
The club house will be open from 10:30am until 3:30pm
If you're inspired to try a new sport and social scene, then visit Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club and see what sailing on Hollingworth Lake can offer.
See the range of boats that are sailed on the lake. Visit the clubhouse, see the facilities and enjoy the panoramic view of the lake. Go out on the water to get a close up view of races, so that you will know what is happening at the Olympics.
Bring some waterproofs, suitable shoes and a towel (just in case!) and have a low cost sailing session on one of the racing dinghies. Learn how one of the members, Stuart Bithell, is representing Britain in the Men's 470 class at the 2012 Olympics at Weymouth.
Whether you are competitive or just looking for a new form of recreation, sailing is an excellent sport for all ages. Head along to the Big Water Festival and take a closer look at the Sailing Club!
Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club
The club house will be open from 10am to 4pm.
Why not have a look around the boat house at the range of equipment available for use by members or try out the rowing machines with club members on hand all day to show you the techniques required for rowing finesse and fitness.
