Home security cameras

As like many areas ours is presently plagued by housebreakings. I have an alarm but was thinking of haviing security cameras fitted can anybody recommend a brand or kit as i would like to do it myself.

am electricain and you get pir light with built in camera for 70/80 quid that take s/d card pm me if you need know more

I thought the same, but I was advised that a private residence needs deterrents rather than cameras as even if you did catch them on camera you wouldn't see their faces and they will have fake number plates etc......

Whisper take it from me mate living in Manc country, they are a good deterrent + if your have one of these smart devices that you can see from the comfort of your mobile then you could contact the police while there was thieves on your premises instantly.

Well I have a gravel driveway and that works well

Tried to get cameras for my Mother but was told by the salesman what's the point...

Makro have a Swann deal on at the mo, 4 outdoor IR cameras, 500gb hdd recorder, internet viewing on android, apple & web. Fitted one for my Mother, can't fault it. £180+vat

All I am trying to say is, what is the point unless you put up signs and have red flashing leds etc.

I have to deal with theft at my Mothers and believe me if they want it they will take it, I was scrapping some of my Dads projects that he had before he died and I had arranged a scrap metal skip which was hidden around the side. Every day I filled a bit more and every night it was stolen.

Sometimes people just think its fair game

We were advised to get a burglar alarm with a panic button for my Mother

If anything went wrong then she would sound the alarm and no one would hear it
