This thread reminds me of the old Jasper Carrot skit, 'Theres only one way to get rid of a mole, blow its bloody head off with a 12 bore'.
When troubled by mice in the UK I employed the standard wire, bang and your a dead mouse trap. Works well is quick and bang no more mouse. Here in Canada I employ the services of Winston who it turns out is just as quick although requires more maintenance.

yep ball bearing mouse trap is the most effective , problem is they don't always remain so effective after the balls are removed .
My female cat is one of the best hunters I have ever had , her son is so layed back he couldn't catch a cold .
As for the s16 i did have some humane lead free amunition ?? that confused me a little i must say

A Cactus Wren is a small pesky bird that lives in holes previously bored in Saguaro cactus by woodpeckers. If you leave your car window open they also get in there and poop all over. It is the Arizona state bird.

A Sad ending!
After the Missus phoning me to tell that there was some Mouse doings on some food I felt it time to act.
On way home I purchase 4 traditional Mouse traps and on arrival set about baiting them with tasty Raisins and positioning them next to the humane traps. About 15 mins ago I heard one trip.
I hope little Mickey hasn't a family, but time will tell I guess.

Interesting note to all the red-blooded protectors of families from vermin shit...
Increased levels of childhood respiratory disease, asthma and allergies are linked to living in too clean environments: removing children from dirt, pollutants and allergens seems to result in them never developing immunity. What this means is that a little mouse shit won't hurt anyone and, axiomatically, may actually make you better at dealing with the dirty planet we all live on.
Unfortunately even if you let the mice survive, many of the kids referred to here will probably incur serious psychological damage from being spawned by sociopaths.

Pink mist
A friend of mine who used to live in Iowa had a great sport during his earlier years. Prairie dogs are large rodents that live in burrows called towns. Ranchers hate them because if a horse's foot goes in one they may break a leg. The ranchers, still to this day encourage peeps onto their property to kill them. One entertaining method is to place a 1/4 stick of dynamite next to the burrow, then lie down with a high power rifle about 100 yards away, when the critter pokes his head out of the hole shoot the dynamite. Hence " pink mist" Sounds bad but is very humane and you get a big boom. I clearly remember the first time I was handed a stick of Dynamite and a knife and asked to cut it into 4 pieces. That will make your pucker cord tighten up really quickly.

Its isn't the vermin shit but a house fire from chewed wires doesn't really help with respiratory problems . and wiels disease "if thats how its spelt" aint too good iether . But I agree people do worry too much about dirt ,
i have to laugh when, women mainly ,go mad about a little spider and beat it to death then just waft a blue bottle away with the tea towel .

Having known a rather nice young girlie who caught weil's disease after some vermin got in through a broken air-brick I'd rather go the snap snap crunch method myself-or call out the exterminator. (this happened after I moved out of the house full of mice!)
Tough shit if it's got babies. They'll only grow up to be part of the problem too.

It's not the thread that's getting boring! go figure.
Tubes!! do be serious!
Now why don't you take your Bowie Knife tween teeth, and pop out and scare yourself in that motorised life vest of yours. (using the word 'motorised' as loosely as possible)
