We live in the woods, and I am all for the wildlife roaming around the outside of the house. Once it comes inside it is DEAD! I want its mother killed! I want its brother killed! Be it spiders, flies, rats, or any other creature, I see it inside, it dies. Killed 5 spiders earlier today. I have spider webs in pretty much every corner of the house right now, and 3 weeks ago, I vacuumed all the corners, and will do so again this week.
FWIW spiders don't bother me and I am barely afraid of the poisonous Brown Recluse as long as I see them first.

It's a fungus that grows in the moist atmosphere of the air con evaporator.
You can buy a SPRAY to kill it.
(Other makes of spray available )

When we lived in Arizona we had Black Widow Spiders for company in the house at times:
So called as the female eats the male after mating Sexual cannibalism, apparently. Whatever. Not for me.
You don't want to get bitten by them so we got adept with an upturned drinking glass. After that it was every man for himself. And herself could look after it whilst I was at work

We really enjoyed the screams when folks were in there - Horace used to lurk behind the toilet and then scuttle out when it was quiet (or when someone was sitting quietly - like I say, not the brightest spider).
Finally he croaked, but I like to think it was old age did for him. Taking a "pony" is a lot less fraught now

How did you know his name was Horace?

'Cos that's what Mrs willk called him, silly. And don't tell me that that's not how it works. I bet you didn't pick "Ian" yourself, did you?

Nice photo, did you take that yourself? Funnily enough, those orb-web spiders don't bother me at all; I can pick them up quite happily regardless of size. I that's because they remind me of the spider crabs I used to catch when I was a fisherman.

So, what you do is this:
Get a nice strip of ribbon in her bathroom scheme colour and a small beach pebble. Hang ribbon into the bath and secure with pebble.
Tell her it "wards off spiders"

Just been watching Dermot Somebody in the jungle looking at snakes and ants when he came across the Brazillian Wandering Spider. Apparently it can jump 20cm in one go and if he bites, you get an uncomfortable priapic experience (I'm sure we've all had one of them ) which can last many hours (nothing unusual there) and ultimately end in impotence if not death. Not sure a pebble on a ribbon is going to help me much if I come across one of them in a box of imported bananas

I watched that too, I think he is called Domenic something lucky it didn't catch the camera man's crown jewels or it could have had double the effect that was stated
