Seen that one a while ago - what gets me is just how long the 2 ribs take to throttle up - to busy rubbernecking as the Yanks would say!!!

I did try before to see if anyone on the chopper survived but didn't get the info.

Whilst searching I came across a truly horrific video which was of some bulgarian or similar UN troops who were in a helicopter shot down in what I think was Iraq> Really terrible video still get nightmares over it and no I will NOT post a link!!!

I would have thought the RIbs were wise enough to stay back while the rotors were still active and if you look closely, you'll see the guy in the right hand seat start to climb out of the window as soon as he realises what's happening, and then, there's a kind of black dot in the water in that general area after the 'copter has gone down. I would like to think it's the co-pilot and that he survived OK.

How I enjoyed that .

Royal Navy would never do that type of HOT landing, they always come alongside first and then move over the landing spot to land.

So enjoyable.... What is your problem? I guess a life threatening accident is enjoyable for you. Especially if its the stupid Yanks right? Would it still be enjoyable had you found out someone lost their life in that accident?

Yeah Brits don't do anything stupid.

No its a US Navy helo. I saw the emblem on the side of the body. Even if it were Canadian, French, or British my reaction was shock then immediate concern and prayer for the crew involved. I can understand the natural curiosity in viewing disasters but to be pleased by one is another thing.

I think the ribs did the right thing, with all the steam and spray they might not have been able to see it the roters were still spinning or where bailed out crew members might be? Plus the crew would need time to get out anyways

Saw a Chinook fly over our factory today, this thread reminded of the Manheim air show crash, that was truly sad, as you will recall a Chinook was taking up a group of parachutists some got out safely I still think of the others left inside.

That is one scary clip.

I witnessed a Jaguar jet crash into the sea 2 years ago at the Lowestoft air festival. You couldn't use your phone for about an hour after at there were so many people phoning their friends to tell them what had happened (I was one of them )!!

Apology time

Sorry if my earlier post caused offence and yes my concern with any incident like the ones shown is with the people involed, I didn't mean to trivialise it.

Sorry!
