Two things.... one, you have no idea what my "major sport" is and secondly, what makes you think I don't understand the subect of hunting? Don't mistake "understanding" for "agreeing with".

Why would you deliberately destroy beauty?

If by 'efficient' you mean effective killing range, yes guns are more efficient. However if by 'efficient' you mean quicker and more humane - probably not. It is a well established fact that a sharp broadhead through both lungs is more likely to kill an animal quicker and more humanely than a bullet throught the vitals will. The key is to keep bowshots within a range that you can ensure proper arrow placement (20 yards or less).

The meat is also more likely to taste better if the animal is bowkilled than if rifle killed as their will be less lactic acid built up in the muscle (broadheads don't traumatize animals to the degree that bullets will).

Do the research on this. Check this with you state and national wildlife departments - they do extensive research on these issues. I've got no problems with rifle hunting, I used to do alot myself, not so much anymore, since Canada's gun laws have made it more of a hassle. But to say gunhunting=good, bowhunting=bad, suggests that you havn't looked into bowhunting carefully.

Having said that, I'm glad to hear that you enjoy hunting & good luck in the field this fall. Hunters like yourself do far more to benefit animal habitat and welfare than any animal rights groups have ever done.

Aside from being delicious, they wont stay looking that way forever you know. Kind of like when a chef prepares a dessert that is a true piece of art, but has a very limited shelf life - what else can you do but take a photo, then dig in!
