I feel some Hams coming on!
Been feeding up this wild boar for a while now. Hopefully tonight is the night I finally get him.
He's not keen on the spotlight, a bit of a jumpy thing so I've managed to get my hands on some night vision gear.

No damage when you nut them. He's only 50yrds from high seat.
The rifle with the NV gear on is a 243 launching 100gr soft nose.
I usually use the 270 with 110gr but the Zeiss isn't compatible with the NV as it hasn't got parallax adjustment.

Well, he won't be destroying any more fences.
Need to get a better look at him when he's hanging up to decide if he's worth skinning. I think he may be a little thin.
Still bloody heavy though, I can't get him into the pickup on my own which means he's heavy, I can just manage to get a 100kg Stag in so who knows what this thing weighs.

I've done s few dozen hairy pigs up here for a local breeder including 10 one day after the anti lot cut all the fences for half a mile around his farm.
.243 100gr soft point through the brain does the business. Even did one in his pens with a smaller calibre as the client (TV) didn't want a bullet hole as it was to feature on a program where they needed it to look alive!!
Big heavy sods to deal with, used a block & tackle on the really big ones.

It came in the larder at 82kg, if it were a stag I would've been able to chuck it in the back no bother.
I've applied to the Food Agency for a Trinchnella test just to be on the safe side as I think il put it in the freezer.
Bait hoppers and cameras back out to see if there are any more.
