Thats been on ebay a few times now - wont sell.
Done up would make a lovely boat. I love those my self. A totally shagged one went for less than a tenner not so long ago on the condition it was moved within three or so days. If only I had a lorry to hand!!
Would make a really nice winter project

I quite like it too. I'd prefer this though...

I wouldn't own a wooden boat though. Big repair bills.

Definitely but diesels instead of Merlins - yuch!!!
When I was a kid my father bought an old RAF rescue launch that had sunk - was in our garden for years while he restored it - the merlins/packards were scrap so he put in a pair of diesels. We never got to see it finished as we were slung out of the country.

Would you guys please stop posting pics. of those wonderful old boats; it really makes me envious. I would give my left nut for one. I used to work on William Street, Northam, Southampton and each lunchtime walk down to Campers ( now Shamrock Quay) and watch Shamrock V being rebuilt. Closest I every got was crewing on my friends C&N 39, in the 80's, which won the 1961 Round the Island. Oh, happy days.

Those J class yachts are absolute perfection - they are a true dream.

There is not and will not be anything that surpases a J class for speed, style etc. I used to take my 14 ft Fletcher down Southampton Water, on the way to Cowes, and always looked at Endeavor hauled up on the shore at Calshot, with the keel cut off ( lead for ammo in WW11) It made you want to cry. Fortunately, an American Lady bought her and now she is fully restored.
