If I don't get some help soon.........

.........I'm going to throw both myself and this blasted computer out the window. Here's my problem. I use MSN messenger but unfortunately for some reason my computer won;t let me into it or it's associate, Hotmail. I can access both via another computer so it's not messenger or hotmail it must be my laptop. I have followed very prompt to check setting, servers, connections etc. I've also removed messenger from my hard drive and reinstalled it. I've followed the messenger wizard and sought assistance from those in the office with a better appreciation for these things than me.
Unfortunately I remain barred from accessing either of these accounts. The message I receive advise my name and password are wrong, however when I use another pc with the same details it lets me in.

HEEEELLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPP, any ideas ?

Probably not the cause but have you got a firewall? If so is it set to allow msn messenger to work?

Don't think that will solve the problem, but hope it does!

Cheers

Tim

Are you running Windows XP?

If so try this;

Goto - Start | Control Panel | User Accounts

Now how this looks will depend on whether your connected to a corporate network or not. Somewhere in there is a "Password and .NET passports" section. Try deleting all the password/.NET accounts it has listed. This should remove all traces of your .NET account from your computer. You can then try adding you account again through Messenger.

Hope that helps,
Daniel

How are you connecting to the internet, are you using proxy server and have your firewall settings been amended to allow your pc to access messenger.

Well.........

.....DJL, thankx, however, having had a real good look through these prompts I can;t find anything that advises to delete, however, whenever it asks me if I want to change preferences etc and I say "yes", it attempts to connect to passport/messenger but keeps coming up with the same blank page saying "page not avalible".

Blige - thanks - yes I know, I just don;t have the time.

Simon, I connect as I always have in the same way which, is via my laptop through my company network using windows xp. There is a firewall, however, the settings remain the same and the administrator advises no changes on the host which might effect me. Furthermore, as mentions if I go onto my secretarys computer I can access everything as I could on mine just a day or so ago ! Nightmare............................

ok..

You typing on heres lower case so Caps must be off - unless your constanly holding down shift!

What happens when you try to login to ebay? Can you see this website: https://mail.loughlin.tv/ (say yes to the security message)

Try this -

In Internet Explorer - goto Tools | Internet Options.

On the Securiy Tab - hit the default level button
On the Privacy Tab - hit the default button
On the Advanced Tab - hit the restore defaults button

May I suggest instead of asking us you ask microsoft support or use one of their forums. Sure you will have an answer within 5 mins.

Are you still logged into messenger/ hotmail on your secretary's pc. If you are then you can't log in again from your own PC as Hotmail/Messenger won't allow 2 computers access the same account. A long shot but you never know??
