Doesn't sound like too bad a price when you realise quite how much the audio gear it fits will cost-and how unbelievable the quality is.

I love high end audio gear - some of it is an art form in itself but this is taking the proverbial.....
British companies do extremly well in this sector and some of it is quite affordable - more popular in Japan than here - people in Britain think Sony or Technics are the last word......
Companies like
Linn
Naim
Caimbridge
Tannoy
Audio Note
etc etc

Nos identifies himself as a budget audiophile... :
Yeah, I had a low-midrange cambridge amp for a while-fantastic bit of kit. At the moment I'm using an ancient 60's jobby I've been inside with LCOFC and gold plated everything hooked up to a set of mordaunt-short speakers through 4mm cable and it's quite stunning the comparison with the high-street crap.

A lot of people in a lot of places think Technics and Sony are the last word, and when you get into there flagship models they take a lot of beating. Likewise Marantz produce lovely sounding and looking equipment at a reasonable price. Yamaha's commitment to audio/musical excellence is legendary both at the pro and domestic ends of the market. They are also the only Japanese company to have made an excellent loudspeaker (NS 1000m and the smaller NS10).
Another term for an Audiophile is a *knob snob* and this product just about proves the point..
