Internet connections

I have been following briefly usage to this forum and to me it seems most of the members are using dialing in through modem here in Iceland majority of the population have said good buy to that and has now broadband connection (ADSL, DSL, ISDN etc) this gives us the advantage of beeing connected day in day out at nominal cost also all inland download traffic is free. Are there many out there with broadband connection ?

I have Broadband, so does Alan, (7th Top Poster) who gave me the idea.
In some areas of Britain you cannot get Broadband, the best you can get in those places is ISDN.
But you are right, most people here have standard 56k dial-up modems. But then again, we don't live in a highly technical, wealthy, W. European, sophisticated country like you, do we?

We only went to adsl from isdn last week, and the difference between 64k and 512k is amazing.... it's also around £60 cheaper per month for us too cos we were on a 24/7 scheme without cutoff on the isdn system.

I do still have my 56k modem under the desk which dials up whenever the primary net connection dies - going from 60k/sec to just 4k/sec downloads is, err, a bit slow

I see from the vote that you cannot choose both work network and broadband - some people I'm sure use both <whistles innocently>

Inernet connection

I raised my speed from 256k to 1500k the other week and that was quite a bit difference. It is not that long ago 56k modem was used and they are still in my computers and laptop at home (6 computer connected through router) this is results of modern home today with 4 teenagers.

Whilst at my folks in deepest suffolk (a broadband free area!) had to use dial-up. So Slow!! Very frustrating. Glad to be back to broadband. Although I'm with virgin.net who have had loadsa problems lately - lost my service for a couple of weeks and still no reply to request for compensation

Alan consider transfering to Nildram www.getadsl.co.uk all you will need is your CBUK number which should be on your virgin bill. I have nearly 50 DSL accounts with them and the quality of service is 2nd to none.
