Iran releases five Briton yachties

It is good to hear that the chaps had been released on are on their way to to Dubai. We understand they had a damaged prop and drifted into Iranian waters.

What if knowing they were getting close to Iranian waters they had sent out a MAY DAY signal before drifting into Iranian waters and then were "rescued" by the Iranian border Guards. Would they also have been detained for illegal entry into Iranian waters or treated as survivors.

It may not have been justified but if they did and knowing of the unavoidable illegal entry would it have been better to be survivals and would they still got the same treatment. This is of course all speculation. Just as well somebody with common sense got them released.

I would guess the Iranians were just "Sabre Rattling " and testing out reaction. Done for effect perhaps who can tell.

Odds on that was the case, scoring political points- a lot of unresolved issues with the Regime in power, that have yet to be addressed...
At least it wasn't as bad as the shameful debacle that having our Navy personnel ''lifted'' was.Good to see everyone returned safe and sound.

They said their chart didn't show any border line at all - complete surprise to them!
