Is this a sea mine detonator?

I just found this thing today on the beach.
It looks like a sea mine detonator that has come off.
It has the markings LEMM and have looked on the net. It looks like LEMM is the make of Russian made mines.
Have just cleaned it and washed it and it smells of gun powder.
Any one knows what this thing might be?

Manos was correct. It was a detonator. He should be out of hospital by next week but he may have trouble posting as he hasn't any fingers left.

It could be part of a aerial for a marine long range radio. these had plenty of insulation due to high voltage.
what if the item made of? I believe the detonators your thinking of had prongs made of lead that would break easily.
also when iron corodes after being underwater for a while it can give off a strange smell, but if your not sure ask the Coastguard.

Makes sence Dave. Will be asking the Coastguard tomorrow as if is a detonator there must be a mine somewhere, and that will be dangerous. If not then there is no problem.

Sorry to dissapoint you, but it is actually the base of a Lemm DV-27 CB antenna. The three holes underneath on opposing corners are screwthreads which it's 3 legs are screwed into, The centre is a PL259 Female Attachment for connection to a radio via Coax. And the bit on top is where the antenna connects, basically a long coil about 1 metre in height, it won't blow anything up other than a radio. I used to have one when I was into CB, who knows, if found off the Isle of Wight, it may even have been my old one.

..now , how the Hell did you stumble across a thread nearly two years old on your first post?... You may be the ultimate "Googler".. ...and are you quite sure LEMM isn't a famous Soviet mine manufacturer?

Nice one Glenn!

How did you find your way to this obscure and ancient discussion?
