It's time I got a job on the water.

I was out on the hill this morning, I sat down to have a spy about through the binos and this is what my hand looked like when I stood up. Ticks, hundreds of them, both hands, clothes and the dog were covered.

Il need to get the wife to give me a thorough inspection tonight

Just been looking at some Norrona trousers and wondering how good they would be against ticks 👍 you had best get some frontline on 😳

I trialled some gear for a local outfitters two years ago, its called Rovince. It's shit hot, the ticks just drop of your trousers. I got the range, socks, trousers and shirts.

I had a bad time 4 years ago with Lyme disease and I don't want to go there again. I thought I was for the bucket, nobody could find anything wrong with me. I'm still not right yet but ALOT better.

Time to dig out the Rovince gear again.

Oh dear.. they are starting early this year..the snow is still on the hills

I fell asleep on the hill behind Arisaig once..t’was a beautiful spot..with a small lochan..and beautiful views over to Eigg and Rum. I went home and started itching that night...thats when I discovered I was covered in those tiny chaps. Fortunately I had a girlfriend staying with me at the time..and she obligingly got the blighters out the bits I couldn’t reach.

My bro had Lymes disease too.. he didn’t know what was making him so ill..even his doc was at a loss. Then they checked for lymes disease and itt proved positive. He had it for a year by this time.. so even full intravenous treatment of antibiotics didn’t help much..its only now..around five years later that he is starting to get back to normal. It goes for the nervous system in severe cases.

Nasty things ticks..I hates them ..I get them a lot too..but touch wood..no Lymes Disease yet..

So saying..I found doing tick searches with girlfriends quite fun

A chap on my hill walking forum ended up with Bells Palsy after catching Lymes disease from a tick bite, the longer they are left on the more at risk you are of contracting the disease. I have purchased this removal tool to keep in my first aid kit.

I'm extremely grateful that you refrained from accompanying this tale of obliging girlfriends and tick inspections with your usual selection of excellent photographs.

Naw..I couldn’t do that Barrowboy.. can you imagine what Poly would say if I posting a photo of that ?

I have been walking the hills a lot lately and although I have not seen ticks yet.. the warmer weather sure made the frogs frisky ..or was it a toad in the hole ..I never can remember the difference ?

Im sure the amphibians can tell the difference but yesterday they didn’t seem to care who was what or where... or even how many made a pair ..but thats spring for ya ...

Better go test out my outboards before I get a ticking off for spawning this thread with toads
