I've been seduced!
What I wanted was a decent camera phone. What I got was an oh-so-smooth iPhone 3g instead.
OK, so the camera's not too hot (so it doesn't actually meet my functional requirements), but it's just so cool. Even the little slidy thing to unlock it is cool. And I can download a million cool-but-useless things from the AppStore - I didn't even realise that my life was incomplete without a photo realistic Labyrinth game!
Am I officially a style victim now?
John

John, If you take it on the boat with you remember to put it in a freezer bag! Although obviously as a fashionista - you will need something "cooler" than a freezer bag

Oh, a couple of great Apps:
1. Facebook (FREE): excellent for uploading photos from the iPhone on the move;
2. NetNewsWire (FREE): great if you are an RSS news junkie like me. Allows you to sync your feeds across multiple machines;
3. Shazam (FREE): point it at the radio and it names-that-tune
4, Dreigit: cool Atari Asteriods-a-like.
5. JiroBreak: cool Breakout-a-like.
6. New York Times (FREE): good for reading over a coffee.
Still looking for a good tide App.....

Its just a shame the iphone is on such a shite network.
We recently changed at work from Voda to O2 and it is the worst network I have ever been on.
Hopeless

Thats a good app, but its not exclusive to O2 or the iphone, and it wasnt free last time I tried it, you get charged for the text coming back with the song title if it finds it, but its very clever
linky

You're right, but its execution is better on the iPhone.

Dont agree with that .. execution is same wherever you use it, its just a text message service, but it sure looks better on an iphone I got an ipod touch 32GB a month ago and its half the thickness of the phone but the same GUI & very nice
When the iphone gets 32GB and is decoupled from 02 I'll probably get one. Apple and 02 relationship is holding for the moment, but it wont last for ever as apple will want other operators on board to sell more phones. By then it should be free on a much cheaper tarrif, but isnt evrything after its been out a while ? ... but by then I wont need an ipod Having said that .. its quite a big phone.. especially once youve encased it in some carry device to protect that lovely touch screen

I agree he doesn't know the meaning of the word until he tries Orange!!!
We did a lot of computer work for them back in 2001 - 2004 and they STILL haven't upgraded their network. France Telecom bought them out and uses all the profits to keep themselves afloat.

Theres a cool application from Fosters that makes the phone look like a beer. When you turn the phone you can "poor" the beer out

I think I'll let you do it again on mine Tim, then you might notice that it's Carlsberg and not Fosters...
And the Shazam is free as on the App for Iphone it does it through the 3G and it comes back via web and not text.

cool .. Dont you pay for 3G data transfer then ?, or is that all in the contract price ? which if so means you can surf the internet at no cost and not require an isp at home ?
