Jetskigulls...say it quickly...
Yes, this is real and it's been on the local canal. I've been trying to convince him that it's not a good idea to use it as a tender at sea.

Has to be better than spending $1000 on a recon engine for a valueless ski!

It would be, but with no engine in it, it's a tad unstable!

That has to be the worst incarnation seen on here for a while. Which for that reason gets
But by having crappy old stuff like that in your front garden, he has probably knocked off 20% of the value of the houses on his street.

i think the word "clatty" would sum that one up, but fair play to the person who has the balls to not only do it but to actually be seen on it!

actually for the number of conked out jetskis I see getting towed back
to the slip in South Shields by various passing boats,
an aux should maybe be a standard fixture !
not sure about "reach back" Wilik...is this some curious N Irish
boat driving technique?
and after I had spent on a fortune on hydraulic steering...all
I needed were hydraulic arms

Well... that's another story. Suffice to say he's being somewhat unrealistic about the 'what' (a yacht) and stubbornly refuses to listen to anyone who says anything negative-including 'you'll either drown or be towed in by the RNLI'. Keep an eye out on 'Mayday Mayday'. No, I'm really not kidding.
Conversations so far have gone:-
'I can motor around everywhere with the mast down because I can't sail'
'My mate can build me a radar set-he's good with electronics'.
'I can live aboard for free and anchor anywhere I want so I don't have to pay berthing charges or harbour dues' (the middle of Poole Bay was one of his preferred locations).
'It won't be cold living aboard it in the winter if I bring it up to the top of the Thames'
I'm bored of telling him not to be f****** stupid.
'

Errm... The local canal isn't open to vessels (it's only part restored) and the fishermen called the police, who told him to remove it.

He can't. I think he's planning a tiller extension.
Incidentally, it's in someone else's garden in the pic.

Its the Brass neck factor that gets me ? Putting along in your own oil slick and struggling to get up a wave let alone take off from it (when he gets it out of a pond)

He's an interesting case Nos. I remember quite a few of those lads in the news over the years. The one who used the roadmap to sail around Britain was a fond favourite of mine. Now would be a good time to jot down a few notes from your chats and get as many decent photos of his build and trials as you can. Remember to get to WHY he wants to do it.
There's a news article in there at least. Maybe a book if he does something really nuts.

You might be right, but I think it's dying a bit of a death. He's bought a grp yacht with no interior and seems to have run out of money to actually do anything with it. He's got it in his head that it needs a wood burner on it
I don't think he's realised he'll be paying yard charges for it as well. He's only been to it once since he bought it.
