Kaspersky Licence renewal

I had a reminder that my licence is due to expire in a couple of weeks, so I thought I'd renew it online with Kaspersky which I thought should be cheaper.......Wrong!

The Renewal price is £39.99. for a 2010 edition

I only paid £12.50 for the disk a year ago (2009 edition) at Novatech and that gave me a years subscription.

I can get a completely new copy of Kaspersky (2009 edition) today at Novatech for the same price or a 3 user copy for about £15.

Why is this

Just seems daft!

This is pretty much standard practice for all anti virus software, however, like you I dont know why. Why would you ever renew??

However, I now use AVG which is free. I have not had any problems since having it and it is used extensively by schools and university's.

What ever you do, do not let your current software run out, even for a few days. Chances are you will pick up a problem, take it from someone who has had to bin whole Pc's as a result ........

Cheers, I'm just a bit wary of downloading free stuff.

Turn the link scanner off though - slows things down - and don't let it do a daily scan - again a pain if it starts scanning when you are in the middle of something!!!
