Kon Tiki Raft Expedition

Kon-Tiki Movie Trailer (2013) - YouTube

In London so went to the Gate Cinema last night where they were showing this film. The director, Thor's son and the lead actor were all there answering questions after the showing.

Fascinating story from 1947 which we all probably remember - despite some rather ridiculous "Jaws style" drama in places it was a very good movie - and well worth watching if it comes your way.

Thor junior's son repeated this feat quite recently as well - beating his grandfather's crossing time by a month and with rather less dram!

Shark Scene ; real footage from 1947.

The parrot rather sadly flew too far from the raft one day and never made it back for some reason. True to Hollywood style in the film last night the parrot er - got eaten by a shark.

I remember reading the book as a Lad...A TRULY Epic journey in a FAR less Tech savvy world!
Across the Pacific Ocean in what was.... A Raft made of Reeds!
If the film is half as good as the Book it should be worth a look.
