Wow I started something I think. I guess defenders are like marmite, love Them or hate them, I will buy a new mudflap. I will also clean my defender and post some pics.

Now.......the LR3 and now 4. That's a different kettle of fish altogether. I suppose it's a bit like Carl Zeiss insisting on keeping the kids marble production line.

If you are looking for "indestructible" mudflaps then get ones made from Kaylan.

I have them on my Isuzu and after 5 years there is not a mark on them .

However when you find out the price of them you will know why

The thing with marbles is, you can smash them into other marbles and they still resemble marbles. And the coveted ones are indeed the ones with not a hint of gloss on them.

Berate away, I'll probably never get it running Besides I'd never fall out with someone over a make of car/engine/boat etc. Life's too short for that!

Will it float your boat? Or are you keeping this gem away from the salty side?

It'll be for the boat just as before (had it 5 years) toying with it being a soft top which would make life very easy at launch/recovery time (all the kit, straps, light board, etc thrown in rear and a tailgate to step onto when on the slip)

Bloody good show Kernow. Will you be fitting an anode?..............Come to think of it, is that not such a bad idea?
I mean, they do what they do, and all it is is a bolt onto the chassis. Isn't that expensive for a "let's do what we can" approach to protecting your pride and joy.
Bolt it to the tow bar and it may pay for itself in a few years......even if it is the cost of drilling a bolt out of somewhere inaccessible.
I'm bolting one to my towbar tomorrow!

I recently went on the LR factory tour and we did the Defender production line and we have no chance at stopping rust when the chassis are rusty before they are assembled and cappings are bare metal behind them.

Defenders are advanced vehicles and come from the factory with sacrifical anodes fitted.

They're called rear doors

Genius by default seeing as the hinges sag so much the door is in the water aft the stern. Or is that afore? We're reversing, so afore the stern seems appropriate considering the direction of travel.
However maritime directions relate to being aboard and hence to somebody outside the boat port is port.......not left depending upon where one is standing.
So astern is in the direction of the stern. Does that mean aft is the stern if the boat is "going astern" seeing as it means "after the mast" and is dependant upon the direction of travel relative to the Main?

Its not just the defenders and discos its landrover in general i think.
At work we run 3 Landrover types
Range Rover Overfinch 18months old 22,000 miles so far its had a new turbo,Been back to the dealer 3 times for paint flaking of the colour coded bumpers,2 multifunction (or not)steering wheels, and 2 windscreens.

Freelander hse 12 months old 18,000 miles so far thats had new turbo actuator, complete rear diff assembly,2 x petrol gauge sendors and a computer as it still shows 80 miles when you have run out of diesel,

Freelander sport 9 months old 6000 miles so far new rear screen as it leaked along with the heater matrix, new tail gate lock door would open randomly.
Were as i run for personal use a 2001 Shogun 3.2 diesel 126,000 miles and apart from general service items brakes ect its only ever had a radiator,
And for work im on my 2nd Toyota hilux invincible as after 3 years and 200,000 miles my first one needed a wash
Jap everytime for me
But each to there own.
Pete

Each to there own, and that's where the tapestry of this life lies.
Buy Jap and be happy, get a LandRover and............oh I don't know. Do as you will.
