More of a motorcastle. Helluva machine. They have a full davit and winch to lower the spare which is recessed behind the driver's position. The anti-submarine bar folds up for offroading.

Guys what are your views on a rear bumper mounted winch on a defender for hauling a rib on to the trailer rather than a trailer mounted winch ?

rear bumper mounted winches tend to mean the tow ball is a long way back from the crossmember, not good for towing. I'd go for a front mounted winch and fit a tow ball on the front bumper for when you need it. just be careful you don't end up with a fast winch as you need to be as slow as possible to keep control of what you are doing, or you may end up with a bow eye getting ripped out

The one i have is slow but as you say they are powerful and if the boat gets stuck could pull the front off at least with a hand winch you can feel the resistance, would be better winching trailer down
