Land Rover Discovery Project
My Dad just offered me his L reg Disco, I've always wanted one so I'm chuffed to bits. Ok, so it's really old but he's owned it from when it was a year old and maintained it all himself.
I'm going over tomorrow so is there anything I should look out for? It's looking a bit shabby so I guess it might need a lot of work.

If my dad gives me something it's usually because he wants something in return

It will be a discovery project matey.
First see how many holes you can line up to be able to actually see right through the car.
When, not if, you line up a set, put a scaffold pole right through. If the scaffold touches any metal on the way, that's an indicator that you have discovered it's too much to take on.
If, on the other hand, the pole takes a bit of a shove to pop out of the other side........the discovery is in fact a project that many LR owners would be happy to take on.
Enjoy your voyage of discovery.

I wouldn't say lucky Pete, but at least I won't have to worry about getting the rear tyres wet when launching anymore
Yep, complete with towbar

As far as insurance is concerned, have a go with CAROLE NASH.
I've just had to renew my car and bike policies. They do some fantastic policies, get this.
Jaguar XJ, Triumph Tiger and Bimota YB6. All on one policy for under £500. The lot!
All have separate AA, key and windscreen insurance included.
And my Land Rover was under £400 F.C.
They appear to have their eyes open to customer service. Very decent to deal with.
Go the 'phone route as it's easier for them to tweak your details to fit the best deal.

Shucks Mick thanks I'm actually 36
From memory, the rear floor has been done as well as the inner front wings and it's had a head gasket too.
It's out of MOT at the moment so I guess that will be a starting point.....

I'll get some pics tomorrow, all servicing has been done by my father except for a few jobs done by the local Mobile Land Rover guy who comes round your house and does the work on your drive - he did the head gasket and the inner front wings. I do remember my dad changing the gearbox few years ago.
