Here's a video from Salcombe and the surrounding bits:

the storm on Vimeo

Casualties so far are the dunes at South Milton beach and the beach road behind it (near Thurlestone), a decent sized hole in the road outside the Tides Reach Hotel at South Sands Salcombe and the fence at the Winking Prawn - other than that we are having rain on a Biblical scale here today as well as it being a bit windy - If you want to see what it's like at the moment here's a webcam on the South Sands Hotel: Live Web Cam of South Sands beach | South Sands Boutique Hotel & Beachside Restaurant, Salcombe, Devon

The good news is that the weekend might be a break in the weather and the Winking Prawn are having their tent put up - weather permitting!

We had a bit of flooding but no more than any other Spring tide with a storm surge and everyone who got wet is used to it.

I wonder how many of the countries we've "donated" to over the years are returning the favour?

Very few I would reckon.

Marco Polo Cruise Ship Pics

Found these pics on a Marco Polo crewmember's Facebook page. They speak for themselves about the conditions that afternoon in the Western Approaches....

The beach road behind the dunes has gone (as well as the dunes) in the last storm or Valentines night at South Milton Sands near Thurlestone, the successive storms have taken away the dunes built up by the National Trust at vast expense, they reinforced them with telegraph poles which have washed up on a number of neighbouring beaches.
