Why did they do this AFTER I have just bought rope etc to make docklines with - also those stainless krabs look great - shame I ordered them from Mailspeed for silly money.
Will buy a load of kit from there anyway!!!

Lidil getting a lot of flack here in Ireland for selling divers knifes over the counter to kids. Even the dive clubs are unhappy. To be honest they have a point. Lidl stores here are usually in poorer areas (few divers ) and some of these implements will end up back in the store being used to free up the till contents.

Looks like the current management don't cut it, maybe Lidls attempt to take a slice of the watersports market is merely to mask other company difficulties yet to surface....

getting back to the thread- it is illegal to sell the knives to under 16s anyway from whatever outlet, and I expect the dive shops will be upset-they want to charge at least three times that price I would think. Are they withdrawing the sailing knives as well?!

Once again stupid political correctness spoils things for decent people!!!
This Policeman's comments are annoying
Sgt Steve Mangham of Essex Police welcomed the decision.
"It was a particularly large scuba diving knife and could inflict untold damage to somebody if it got into the wrong hands," he told the BBC.
Of course a meat cleaver or a boning knife from Tesco will do no damage at all - neither will a screwdriver.
Obviously don't sell knives to kids but it is about time people realised that if people want to hurt someone they will do so no matter what you try to ban!!!
I wonder if they will stop selling the mooring lines because someone may use them as a garotte or try to commit suicide???

Thin stainless steel rigging wire is much better for making garottes, but do get the ends swaged to stop accidental cuts from stray strands...
