I was in Johannesburg last week and was staying in the same hotel as the Lions and had a chance to have a chat with a few of them.

Team spirit seemed really good with all the guys getting on really well.

I watched the first game in a J'burg pub and was the only person in there , with the only people coming in asking the landlord if they were showing the Super-14 final, which was on the same day.

Although the result looks good I don't think the opposition was that good but nether-the-less it will be good to play a few games against weaker teams to get the inter-play working well. Hopefully before the first test they'll play some of the better teams as playing the Boks will be a different ball game!

Cheers

Mark

Well done MOLLERS

Western Province 23 Lions 26

A 33,000 crowd - the best for a tour match to date - created a tremendous atmosphere.
But when it came to making the big calls, the Lions roared louder.
It helped that WP sent on a replacement prop with all the power of a cardboard cut-out.

JD Moller repeatedly went down, his outside arm hitting the ground instead of binding - and referee Mark Lawrence gave the Lions the penalties.
