I work in Canary Wharf and the tube station was awash today with people giving out flyers for cheap/ half price tickets...... not a lot of take up as far as i could see.

I went on Monday from Devon by train to appear as a guest of Raymarine on the "Knowledge Box", the transport wasn't an issue for me, it took a while but Totnes to Paddington and one change on the tube took me to the door for just over £70 return including tube ticket - Living in Devon you have to accept it's going to cost you to get anywhere!

Even for a Monday it was quiet - we took the boat up to Autosport at the NEC on Wednesday and stayed for the opening morning, not only is the show immense but for a trade only day it was very busy indeed!

The NEC would make it even more accesible for us on the other side of the pond, I often get to a trade show in one day from the south of Ireland, but prefer to take two days to enjoy a few beers

I've just got back from the show and even after spending all day in a meeting upstairs and just an hour looking around it was very dismal.

Musto stand was very helpful
RNLI got me three times - so ended up lying and saying I was a member!!
Garmin - no interest from sales staff so walked off
ICOM - no interest from sales staff so walked off

Sandwich, mars bar and coke = £8

Even with free tickets it hurt!

Last time I went to the LBS was 4 years ago. Sounds like I didn't miss much this year

I can get to the Southampton boat show by car faster from Yorkshire than I can get to Excel by trains (GNER, Underground then DLR)
