London Boat Show

I have just received an e mail from the RYA offering tickets for the show---

RYA Members can buy tickets, at the special discounted price of £12* for any day of the show including Preview day. To book your tickets, visit the London Boat Show ticket website or call the ticket hotline on 0871 230 7140, quoting 'RYA12' And don't forget 'Kids Go Free' - up to two children, aged 15 or under, can enter free with each adult ticket.

*A transaction fee of £1.75 will be included when booking in advance, this is per transaction not per ticket. Calls charged at national rate.

I dont think this is the best price BUT have you seen the transaction fees they are adding

Aren't they supposed to be banning transaction fees like this?
Or is this not on Credit cards??

One word describes our day:-

Disappointed

Basically there is far less there than in the past, with large gaps between the stands, and some of the bigger names not even there.
It wasn't even busy, which was obviously good for the punters, but I'd imagine a nightmare for the exhibitors.

They had obviously tried to fill some of the empty space, as there were loads of non-boating stands around - yes, even more than usual - and a large arera of the 'boats' hall was taken up with an assortment of fake antique stands and something to do with luxury cars.

The only good bit was the long chat we had with Simon from C-Fury.

This is the 3rd year in a row we've been up, and we won't be going again for a while.

Ditto, it wasn't really worth the effort and expense.

Yes very quiet and we hear that the lease to hold the show at Excell is only for one further year and even some of the biggest boat builders may not be present next year.

Those present at the show have put in hard work, time and money to present us the marine industry and we should do our best to support them.

Most people we spoke to feel the location is the killer and not the economy. Living on the South Coast took four hours each way, so others around the country it must be a non starter. Maybe time to consider a best location for a National Boat show.

I live just west of London & in the past went to the boat show in Earls court but have always been put off Excell as it is a pig to get to! I would prefer to go up to the NEC!
I go to SBS every year & always have a good day out with the family.

Nick you are very near to London and if you find Excel a Pig imaging what it is like for our friends all over the country. Sorry Transport systems do not support Excell and the organisers must realise the Marine industry struggles with this site.

I was offered last minute space and have to say I would not take a space here even if my business needed more advertising.

You mentioned the NEC (or whatever they wish to call it this week), that would help quite a few people I guess. Perhaps the BMF need to ask this question of their marine members as clearly Southampton works so now is probably a good time to halt Excel location as an exhibition

I went last year and hence didnt this year, too much of a pain to get to and was lacking last year, on the south coast we have southampton boat show, a new show (small but nice) at Salterns marina in Poole again this year and of course Ribex in Portsmouth this year.

Why is it such a pain to get to?

We drive and then park underneath Excel without any issues at all.

Just under 2 hours with a stop for breakfast from just North of Portsmouth, a lot cheaper and a lot quicker than the three of us getting on the train, and you couldn't ask to park closer.

Excel being inside the LEZ must make it difficult for some of the exhibitors.

When they had both halls plus the watersports pool plus the outdoor space and dinghy sailing on the water, it was worth it.

I had an email offering a £12 ticket or £10 on the door tomorrow from 4pm. That was a general email not RYA one.
