I'll be going on Sunday week. I can't get up there any earlier this time.

Sounds like it's going to be a bit small this year, but the tacked-on outdoor show is usually quite good.

If you book online using the RYA discount it's only £10.

We're giving it a miss this year for the first time in quite a while.

My eldest is revising for Mocks and GCSEs, so feel a bit guilty about going without him.

It was so much better when it was at Earls Court - intimate atmosphere and amongst lots of friends. All the traders prefered Earls Court. We need a petition to get it back to Earls Court.

I am only going as my new RIB is on the Piranha Ribs stand - gong this Sunday and getting excited as it is our first one since selling our sail boat.

That's not likely to be much help as Earls Court is scheduled to be demolished next year!

Having been to the London, Southampton and some of the European boatshows every year for the last 15 years, can safely say I won't be going to either of the UK ones this year! Have been steadily getting smaller and smaller - last year at Excel was tiny - and relatively few new things to look at.

This year for the first time have had a bunch of emails from various companies saying "we're not going to the boat show, but you can still visit our showroom/workshop and get a good deal!", so I get the impression because of the cost of attending a number of businesses are choosing not to go!

I think you are right in more and more people are deserting Excel. Southampton has definitely become the major UK one but they all have lost something. Maybe it is online buying?

Had not realised Earls Court was being demolished so going back there not a good idea.

NEC good position but a lot of International people liked London as they could combine it with London Shopping and Theatres. When we think major boatshows we must also think UK exports and London has a pull even over on the water shows like Southampton.

Same! Hoping to buy a few bits and pieces, being at the boatshow does offer a better chance to get a good deal we feel
