I think there is a few of us that will have to find a different landmark to align ourselves.

I will miss the chimney as part of the landscape as well as an aid to navigation. In the last 5 years, I’ve seen several chimneys demolished along the Thames local to me. Huge concrete chimneys will soon be a thing of the past

It was a good landmark...but always seemed nearer than it was

Oh well, may have to look at the plotter instead...as long as the charts get updated

It certainly wasn't attractive. I remember a childhood of sailing out of the mouth of the Beaulieu River and there on your port side was 'heavy industry'. The resi development due to eventually be built there will be quite interesting. It's spearheaded by some er, 'interesting' individuals so should come with plenty of scandals and tittle tattle for the natives over the next decade.

But I've certainly used the tower all my life as a key reference point for heading home in the Solent. It'll be a shame to see the ugly old eyesore go.

I’d forgotten about those developers [emoji51][emoji23].

To be honest the Solent is pretty easy to find your way around if only the chop would leave us alone!
