Mandatory training for surfers /boogie boarders.

Well with some people airing their views about mandatory training for boats on the "LED navigation lights thread" I thought that I would start this thread on surfers and body boarders

Should training be mandatory for these users as well ? Cornwall's beaches have hundreds of people dodging each other every year on the boards they use and there are accidents, lots of them. I'm sure the boards sold by the manufactures have been tested and passed by the safety standards mafia or have they ? So to educate the people that use them should there be mandatory training ?

Also should surfers be made to wear life jackets.

Your views please.

I was taking the piss as who's going to tell my 7 year old she can't boogie board! But thinking about it, not much we can do about golfers, there's no excuse not to insure horses, we always have and it cost very little and when you have a handlebar dent in a 3 month old car and the idiot on the bike shrugs his shoulders and buggers off then come back and tell me they should;t be insured.

Any other sport that involves a machine requires insurance, blow carting, buggying, flying model planes and so on - but not cycles.

They were made standard some time ago in the UK - along with lights on dogs and cats when out after sunset (they have to meet strict standards of positioning and height off the ground etc )and also independant brakes on all livestock (if used on the road and over 750kgs)are required........
