You've let your guard slip on this one Timwbo.
You've dropped 'Rock/Padstow' as if to impress, the place is a joke. Of course you're getting cash ripped out of your pocket, that's the whole point the place. It won't be 'locals' doing the ripping either, they were driven/priced out of the area years ago. It'll be incomer fleasing visitor as it usually is.
FYI Tim, if you're looking for a Cornish holiday destination which has some cachet to impress your home counties pals, don't bother with the North coast.
As a rule of thumb..
Newquay/Perranporth- Bucket and spade Northerners.
Rock/Padstow/Polzeath- Flash new money, drive RR Sport in white.
Fowey/St.Mawes/Helford- Posh old money, been holidaying in same place for generations.

It's not just you lot down Cornwall that's got incomers there are other places in England as well...even oop North, Saddleworth in the Pennines where 25/30yrs ago nobody wanted to live there (to isolated and cold) then the yuppies moved in and pushed up the house prices and the locals who lived there all there lives couldn't afford to buy houses in there own area and have been pushed out. Not nice but a fact of life.

Same story here on the Island house prices in coastal towns far to expensive for locals .
Back to the show love it they don't give Monty the star treatment do they .
Poor bugger choking on his own vomit but skipper keeps on bringing in the Monk fish Fair play to Monty he gave it another go later and went back out .
Only hope the cove does not become a holiday hotspot and kill off the community.

It won't help. Helford Village which is on the opposite side of the Lizard and across the river from us, is a ghost town in winter. A two bed terraced cottage in the Helford village could be upto £600k.

Whilst I enjoy Rock we dont stay there.... too expensive ! also too much chance of bumping into Twim the Twit. Prefer to stay inland a little at a friends house in Chaple Amble.
Personally I prefer Salcombe to Rock, its certainly a better place to go boating.

I used to work with a bloke from Chapel Amble, dear little place.
Salcombe, superb. Kicks the crap out of Fal/Helford.

Or adding to the depth of it.
Funnily enough, young/youngish attractive females are very welcome regardless of WTF they come from.

Yeah, it really was a great watch tonight. Even Mrs Whisper wants to go fishing next time I go.
I don't know about investing in a pot though, I guess a few hours isn't enough.

East Solent meant to be good ground for spider crab. Just gotta beware of some commercial potters stealing catch and sabotaging pots. Can't wait to get out there and live off the sea!
