In all seriousness, the best way to avoid the midges is to avoid the area between June & August. April/may is the best time on the west coast imo. The weather is usually better too.

Only thing that works for midges in my experience is a breeze! I live in Argyll and they are particularly appalling this year. I’d recommend a midge net, there’s also massive horse flies on the Hebrides to watch out for!

It's possibly the only time that smoking is good for you.
How about a midge net? A few of the locals were using them when I was up that way last.

Well, I travelled up to Scotland, including the Kyle of Lochalsh, Uig, Stornaway, Tarbet, Leverburgh, North Uist and St. Kilda and I didn’t get bitten once. Is this a record? Am I just lucky? AND, and I didn’t use any of the vast (and very expensive) medical cabinet I took with me!
And I will be avoiding the Brandon Lodge on the way home Willk.

Alternatively...Stay near the Coast / on the Water where the Breeze really helps.."Smidge up" .. (Which is the very Best I've found)...
Wear your Hat with integral Mozzy Net when nessesary .. Stop whining ..Grow some Balls! and just get the heck on with what you're doing
